Perfect Makup

No matter what time of day it is, or how busy you are, there are certain golden rules when applying your makeup. Here is a short guide to getting your war paint right every time!
Laying The Foundations
Foundation should be the perfect match to your skin tone. Nobody looks good when they have skin the color of a pumpkin! And worse yet, beware of the tidemarks at the jaw line. Always make sure that your foundation is well blended if you want to avoid looking like youre wearing a mask.
Top tip - if you use a shimmering moisturizer before you apply your foundation then your skin will absolutely glow!
Dark Circles?
No way! There is a huge range of products on the market for different tones and textures of concealer. Dont be tempted to go two shades lighter than your natural color, as it will make the darkness of your skin more gray and muddy. And be careful not to lay it on too thick. Apart from the fact that it looks like youre wearing too much makeup, it may also damage the delicate skin beneath your eyes. Remember, you want to tint the discoloration, not mask it.
Top tip - Have a good look at the actual color of your dark circles. If your darkness is gray, lightly apply a soft pink eye shadow to the circles before applying your foundation. If your darkness is more of a blue hue, use a light peach color first instead.
Powdering Up
Keep your powder application light by using loose powder and a big brush for application. Less is definitely more here. Make sure that you buy a good powder that will sink into your skin, rather than visibly lie of the top of it.
Top tip - before applying your powder, try blotting your foundation with a tissue. This will remove any excess oils, and help to stop you from getting shiny.
Blushing Beauty
Only apply your blush to the apples of your cheeks, and build up the color layers slowly. Next, blend the blush in so that the color looks natural. Remember, youre just trying to enhance the facial definition that you already have. No matter how much we may want to, it is impossible to draw on fantastic cheekbones. Just be yourself!
Top tip - if you make a mistake and put too much blusher on, dont panic! You dont need to start over. Instead, just moisten a sponge and gently dab your cheeks with it. This will dilute the color and return your overall look to something acceptable!
Luscious Lips
Whatever lipstick you use, there is one golden rule to follow... just make sure that it is right for your skin tone, hair and eye coloring. Go vampy for the night time with darker shades, and keep it calm and cute with tinted lip-gloss during the day.
Top tip - if you want great looking shimmery lips try applying sparkling eye shadow over the top of your lipstick to create a new shiny shade, absolutely free!
Powerful Peepers
So long as its applied in a constant, unwobbly line, your eyeliner can be as bold as you wish. Use lighter shades of eye shadow during the day, and go darker at night. A shimmering highlighter applied just beneath the eyebrow gives even the most tired looking peepers a lift. And always apply your mascara in thin coats, building up the length and thickness slowly. This helps to avoid that terrible clumping which can happen it you try to apply too much, too soon.
Top tip - blend your eyeliner with a thin layer of eye shadow. This will make your eyes look absolutely magnetic! Link..............

London’s In A New York, New York State Of Mind

Have iPod, will travel. That seemed to be the thinking behind last night’s New York, New York party, which hopped the Channel from its traditional home at Paris fashion week and touched down at London nightspot Sketch. “I like to say we were invited by the Queen,” joked Sophomore designer Chrissie Miller, who co-hosted the party with, among others, Grand Life’s Tommy Saleh and Style.com editor at large Derek Blasberg. “I just wish she’d do something about the fucking smoking laws!” That was a taste of NYC many partygoers could’ve done without, but other hometown imports were more popular. When Miller took Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind” for a spin during one of her stints at the turntable, there were plenty of British Isles accents to be heard in the crowd sing-along (pictured).

“I just came for the toilets,” quipped menswear designer Aitor Throup, who was huddled in the corner with Erdem Moralioglu. “Seriously—you have to check them out, they’re insane.” He wasn’t wrong. The loos at Sketch are space-age, egg-shaped pods that talk to you. But the real attraction at the party was the company, which included both New Yorkers (Leigh Lezark and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld) and Londoners (Peaches Geldof, Charlotte Dellal, Henry Holland, and Stephen Jones). Turns out the cities aren’t so different, either. “It practically feels like home,” deadpanned Miller, as she grabbed her jacket and went outside for a smoke. Link.............

Yea, Nay, Or Eh? The Perilous Journey From Catwalk To Carpet

Last night in London, the ElleStyle Awards saw red carpet debuts—the first real-world appearance we’ve seen of The Row Fall 2010, on Carey Mulligan—and the dusting-off of the best of Spring. In the latter category falls Daisy Lowe’s Miu Miu ensemble, plucked from Mrs. Prada’s Spring 2010 show. At an event where many attendees went demure (Alexa Chung’s sweet Chanel set the tone), Daisy’s kicky separates were a welcome change of pace. She’s got pluck in spades, but even so, we think the midriff-baring top, skirt, and cardigan felt a little haphazard and underdressed, which the outfit didn’t at the label’s show. Which leads us to wonder: Are some looks best left on the runway? What do you think—is Daisy taking the high road, or the Lowe? Link.......

Get Full Lips

Everyone wants to have those perfect Angelina Jolie lips. Unless you want a collagen injection though, there are other ways to make your lips appear fuller without any injections whatsoever.

First and foremost, you have to take care of your lips just as you would take care of your skin. Buy a lip exfoliator and use it 3 times a week. The exfoliator gently sloughs away dead skin and leaves your lips feeling smooth.

During the winter, make sure you use a good lip balm, which will prevent your lips from getting dry and chapped.

Now that your lips are soft and helthy, get out a good lip pencil. Get one that matches your natural lip line. Trace a line on the top part of your lips, the corners, and a small line at the bottom. This will give your lips a little bit of definition.

Now apply your lipstick, making sure that you don’t go outside the line, and then smack your lips against a tissue paper.

To make your lips appear fuller, apply a lip gloss to the top crease of your lip and to the bottom as well. You can use a lip plumper as well, as that will rush the blood to your lips and give them a full, natural look. Link...

Get a Messy Bun

messy bunSexy, messy buns are extremely hot right now, and so easy to pull off. Perfect for bad hair days, lazy days, and pretty much any day you want! They look great during the day, at night, at work, school, whatever you want! Here’s how to pull off a messy bun.

Start off by sweeping the front part of your hair to one side as to create a fuller crown area. Use your fingers along with a paddle brush to direct both sides to the back of the head.

Gather your hair into a loose pony and secure with an ouchless elastic (sides and back). The base of the pony should rest in the middle of the back of the head. Push your pony up slightly to create fullness at the top of your head. Add some hairspray.

Separate the pony into one inch sections, curling each section loosely. You don’t have to do this very carefully, as it is a messy bun, and you just want to get some waves. Holding the curler for about 3 seconds should be enough, depending on the hair thickness.

After each section is curled, use a bobby pin to secure the curl loosely against your scalp. When pinning the curls, make sure that you pin some at the top as to form an even and balanced shape.

Once you’ve finished pinning the curls, use your fingers to gently loosen up the curls, making it look messy. Finish off with a little bit of hair spray and you have a sexy, messy bun, Link.............

SKIN CARE TIPS

SKIN TYPE AND CARE:NORMAL SKIN:

Skin Types & Care »»

It is really important for you to be able to identify your skin type. This is to enable you to look after your skin correctly. Also the selection of your cosmetics is, to a considerable extent, influenced by your skin type.Although no two skins are exactly similar most have characteristics which enable them to be grouped into one of the following types:Dry skin, Normal skin, Combination skin and Oily skin. To determine your skin type, wash your face with a mild face wash. Then, after 30 minutes, press a clean tissue against your forehead, nose, cheeks and chin.If the tissue shows no trace of oil, then you have dry skin.Dry skin looks rough and is prone to premature fine lines and wrinkles. If your skin is oily in some parts but dry in others, then you have combination skin.Normal skin usually looks smooth and is not prone to break outs.Oily skin feels oily to touch and tends to shine.Oily skin is also prone to blackheads and pimples.A sensitive skin needs special care, as it may be sensitive to some ingredients found in popular cosmetics. Those with sensitive skin should always use beauty aids that are hypoallergenic to protect their skin from allergic reactions.A regular skin care programme, adapted to the needs of your particular skin type, goes a long way in keeping your skin radiant and problem free.

DRY SKIN:

Dry skin needs extra care, as it is prone to fine lines and wrinkles. This is especially true during the winter months when it feels even drier and may feel too taut or may even flake.A few measures help alleviate dryness and keep your skin supple and, at the same time, guard against premature aging.
1. Always wash your face with a mild, soap-free face wash.Never use soap, as that would further strip your skin of natural oil.
2.Always use a moisturiser during the day.Use upward, circular motion to lightly massage the moisturiser into your face.Make sure not to pull or tug your skin.
3.You should consider using a night cream before going to bed at night. It is advisable to use a cream that contains Alpha Hydroxy Acids(or AHA's, as they're commonly known).AHA's are derived from sources such as milk, fruit and sugar-cane.These acids gently exfoliate the dry, dead, outermost layers of skin while they moisturise the newly revealed layers. They greatly benefit complexions that look dull, dry or flaky and they give your skin a beautiful glow.
4.Both AHA and Vitamin C help reduce fine lines and other signs of aging. Thus, you may get good results quickly by using a moisturiser or cream that contains Vitamin C during the day and an AHA-based night cream. Most known brands have moisturisers and creams that contain these.

5.If you have dry skin that tends to flake off, looks red and has some itchy patches that scab, consult your doctor to rule out eczema.Eczema, also known as atopic dermititis, is generally considered to be a hereditary condition that can occur throughout the year.Other causes of eczema can be fabrics such as wool, some skin-care products or detergents etc.Your doctor may prescribe a cream to soothe the redness and irritation.Non-irriating fabrics such as cotton also help avoid flare-ups.
6.Many people suffer from weather-related dry skin. If the weather in the winter months is normally drier and this tends to dehydrate your skin, regular use of moisturiser will keep your skin hydrated and supple.

Skin »»

Normal SkinNomal skin is usually trouble-free and needs simple care to keep it healthy and glowing.Normal skin also tolerates most popular lotions and creams as well.A regular skin-care program combined with a balanced, healthy diet helps keep normal skin stay supple and young.Regular care for normal skin should include a few simple steps.
1.Cleansing, toning, and moisturising daily keeps normal skin in great shape for a long time.It is advisable to use natural products on your skin.
2.It's easy to take trouble-free skin for granted. But, if neglected, it will begin to develop fine lines and wrinkles. So always remember to nourish and moisturise your skin.
3.Creams and lotions that contain vitamin A, C and E help improve the texture of your skin, making it smoother and softer. Moreover, these vitamins counter the effects of free radicals.
4.Even if your skin is normal, you still have to give it regular care.Your skin, like any other skin type, is constantly assaulted by free radicals.Free radicles are molecules formed in the skin when it is exposed to the environment, pollution

COMBINATION SKIN:

Skin that is oily in some parts but dry or normal in others is considered as combination skin. The oily skin is concentrated on the T-zone, which is across the foreheat, down the nose and chin.Whenever you wash your face, you may find that some areas of your face feel tight after washing; and that these parts look dull or feel dry and rough whereas the T-zone looks shiny, feels oily to touch and is prone to pimples and blackheads.Combination skin needs special attention because the dry parts of your face need to be considered, whereas the oily parts need to be kept clean to avoid breakouts.Follow these simple tips each day and see what a difference they make to your skin.
1.Cleanse your entire face twice a day.Always use a mild cleanser to gently remove dirt, grime and make-up from your face.
2.The dry areas of your face need to be moisturised to prevent the formation of premature wrinkles.Use a good moisturiser on the dry parts of your face, and if possible, use an oil-free moisturiser on your T-zone.
3.If you use make-up, try and use oil-free/shine control type of make-up on the T-zone.These products are easily available in the market today and help absorb all the excess oil secretion and control the shine.
4.If you have a combination skin, your skin will greatly benefit from AHA and Vitamin C moisturisers and creams.Products that contain AHA tend to normalise the skin.

OILY SKIN:

1.Skin that looks oily, feels greasy to touch and is prone to blackheads and pimples is known as oily skin.It is imperative to keep oily skin clean and to control the excess secretion of oil.On the positive side, oily skin tends to age more gradually as compared to other skin types, as natural oil protects oily skin from fine lines and wrinkles.A simple but regular skin-care programme coupled with a well-balanced, healthy diet helps manage oily skin and minimises skin break-outs.
2.It is essential to cleanse your face twice a day, once in the morning and once at bedtime.Always use a mild cleanser. They help prevent clogged pores and reduce pimples..
3.Follow up the cleanser with an astringent as this will remove all excess oil.It is best to avoid an alcohol-based astringent. Instead, it is asvisable to use natural products.Alcohol-based products strip too much oil from the face.
4.If your skin does break out, do not touch or squeeze the pimples.Pimples, if squeezed, may leave permanent scars. There are a number of effective pimple creams available in the market today.Consult a dermatologist to know which one is best suited for you.
5.If possible, get your face professionally cleansed once a month. 5.Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water each day.Water helps flush out toxins from the body. 6.Avoid fried foods and chocolates. 7.Make sure that you eat a well-balanced diet which includes fruits and green leafy vegetables daily.

SensiSENSITIVE SKIN:ve Skin »»

If you have sensitive skin do not use facial washes or soap; instead use a light, hypoallergenic cleansing lotion. Use a moisturiser to strengthen your skin and provide a barrier against irritants.
1.Make sure you use an unperfumed moisturiser so as not to irritate your skin
2.Looks fragile and translucent.
3.It is generally dry.
4.It may have freckles.
5.It tends to become flushed blotchy and irritated in extremes of temperature or through using harsh cleansing products.
6.It may suffer from broken red veins dermatitis allergies

Pretty, Practical Patent Leather

When decked out in patent leather, you can have your cake and eat it too - that is, you can indulge in fashion's finest without spending a moment's worry on your arch nemesis: the weather. Rain, hail, salt, snow and mud can't leave their mark on your slippery new pumps and glossy glam clutch, so get pretty and practical in patent.

Steve Madden: Patent stiletto lace-up bootie

Shiny Patent Leather Shoes

Bring together patent leather and peep-toe and you've got yourself a pump that's beaming with timeless class and of-the-moment style. Aldo's fashion fusion shoe, the "Ath" features an unexpected band at the toe that adds a modern spice to the much-adored mid-century era pump. And in such vibrant hues as purple, yellow and fushia, as well as classic black and white, this patent peep-toe revs up the glitz and guts found in the most glamorous footwear silhouette of all.

Why show a little when you can show a lot? Put your toe cleavage on full display with the Guess Patty (Guess By Marciano), an open-toed heel that challenges the pleated plaid skirt as the epitome of schoolgirl sex appeal. The usual clunk and clumsy of the old-school Mary Jane is traded in for a sleek, slender strap and heel that put the sophistication in studious. And all that class comes with the added polish and practicality of bold black patent.

A Patent on Platforms

Leave it to Fendi to create patent perfection in shoe form. This spicy sandal, with a price tag that just might leave you homeless for a month, has got everything right: patent, platform, and peep-toe. The high-gloss leather has been cut, stitched and wrapped into a factory girl shoe that shines with the brilliant tones of rich brick, midnight blue and clean taupe. This hidden-platform sandal also features a sexy wraparound ankle strap with an aged brass buckle - could we ask for more from this dangerously desirable shoe?

Polished Patent Leather Outerwear

When it doesn't snow, it pours - so stick out your tongue at global warming with this sleek slicker from Club Monaco. Embodying the high-shine style of patent leather, Club Monaco's double-breasted raincoat combines the glossy trend with the class of a trench and the spice of the '60s swing jacket. As practical as your boxy yellow slicker, but much, much prettier, this 3/4-sleeve coat will have you conquering the horizontal downpours in high-shine style.

Perfectly Patent Leather Clutches

Alongside the peep-toe, the middle of the 20th century brought another bit of posh and polish to the forefront of fashion: polkadots. Wrap up that pretty little print in a glossy finish and you've got yourself Steve Madden's perfectly adorable patent clutch organizer.

Found in classic red, white and blue - we've have fallen desperately in love with the regal and retro royal blue - this tiny clutch opens to a dotted and striped interior that'll keep you organized with credit card slots, a zippered pouch and a second compartment with a kiss-lock closer. Stylish and sensible, this practical and patent mini purse is begging for a night on the town.

Get Belted in Patent Leather

You can't rock patent without cinching in your middle with a shiny, bold belt. Aldo's "Reed" belt, created with an ultra-glossy finish that hones the pristine of patent leather, features a timely wide strap and a massive, square-shaped buckle. In the classic colours of crimson-lip red and basic-but-brilliant black, this polished belt will give an otherwise matte ensemble just the right hint of shine. Link.............

How to Wear Boots with Style

Boots are taking over footwear fashion this season. This year women are trading in

conventional shoes for ankle boots and booties, thigh high and over-the-knee boots,
mid-calf boots, and fur-lined boots and even ultra-comfy UGGs.
Kiera Buckle Boots from Fre People

Ankle boots and booties are at the forefront of the boot fashion trend. Celebrities are sporting sexy stiletto cropped boots with everything from jeans and trousers to mini-skirts, dresses, and even eveningwear. Ankle boots are available in every shape, color and material - even peep-toe peek-a-boo booties! Avoid wearing ankle boots with long skirts past the knee - this tends to look frumpy and matronly.

Mid-Calf Boots

Mid-calf boots are aunique cut that looks great with skirts of all lengths. This style accentuates your calf muscle and stands out from the crowd of knee-high boots. Very sexy, indeed.

Knee-High Boots

The classic knee-high boot. Ensure that the boot fits snugly around your leg; if the boot gapes open you may need to have it altered for a more chic look - a standard procedure at most cobblers.

Over-the-Knee (Thigh Hight) Boots

Some critics say that over-the-knee boots scream "hooker." Granted, Julia Roberts was sporting a pair of shiny, black, over-the-knee, stiletto-heeled boots as a working girl in the movie Pretty Woman, but that was 1990 and this is now. Unlike the Pretty Woman, we're not pairing the over-the-knee boots with salacious eighties spandex getups. Instead, modern women are rocking the over-the-knee boot with tasteful, modest, modern staples.

Fur-Lined Boots & UGGs

Narrow, fur-lined lace-up tall boots are a sweet accompaniment to a flirty short skirt. For a funky casual style, try wearing knee socks over your tights and letting them peek (ever so slightly) over the top of your boot. This look works best if your socks and tights are contrasting colors.

UGGs have become all the rage as the surfer-type's (and urban wanna-be surfer type's) winter foot-wear of choice. These robust, wooly sheepskin boots have been fashioned for years by Australian craftsmen, and were first mass introduced to North America in 1978 by Brian Smith, a young Australian surfer seeking to spread the UGG-love across the United States.

Twenty-five years later, and while UGGs aren't exactly the height of chic sophistication or glamorous sexiness, they are hailed by wearers as the ultimate in comfort and warmth at 30 below.

How to Protect Your Boots

Boots can be practical or sexy, although rarely both in the salt-laden streets of harsh winter climates. While it may often seem like store clerks are just trying to boost their commissions by ringing up protective sprays and gels, their sales gimmick is not totally bogus.

It is essential to understand that not all boots are created equal. The word "boot" is not synonymous with water-proof or snow-friendly. Respect your fashion investment by weather-protecting and cleaning all of your winter footwear regularly.

Not All Boots are Meant for Winter Weather

Realize that protective and restorative shoe applications cannot perform miracles. Have the common sense to know when to air on the side of practicality and not to wear your suede stiletto calf-cut boots. Salt and water produce damaging, lasting stains which - in addition to ruining boots' finish - actually corrode the integrity of genuine suede, leather and fabric. Purchase a swank boot bag in which to tote your trendy footwear to work in nasty winter conditions while opting for damage-proof snow or rain boots while en route. Link........

Get Cassie’s Smoking Hot 'Equation' Style

You saw R&B songstress Cassie’s smoking hot look during her "Equation" fusion hook up with Desi designer Alia Khan. And now DesiHits.com brings you the secrets behind Cassie’s sizzling style! We talked to Alia Khan about how she prepared to dress the hip hop princess and how to get her hot look.
How did you prepare for dressing Cassie?
"I was told to dress her fusion and I’m an avant-garde designer myself, so I thought of her personality, hair color and skin tone. She has a fusion personality, so I picked clothes with a fusion style. I picked 20 styles prior to the shoot and once I met her I knew what would look wonderful on her," Alia revealed.
And working with a fusion personality like Cassie turned out be a trouble-free affair!
"She did everything, she liked the colors and the embellishments, but we decided on three or four outfits and she looked amazing. For me she has a lovely body, so I wanted to show her curves and compliment her complexion so we went for neutral tones and brown. I wanted her eyes to be bright, and not have too many colors. Her jewels were white stones that sparkled and matched the dresses."
So how do you go about to get Cassie’s fusion style?
"The first thing is to pick out the styles, before hair and makeup, wear what you want to wear in terms of colors, depending on if you’re going out for the evening or not. Look at the wardrobe first; the wardrobe decides the hair and makeup. Look at the colors and then go into hair and makeup," Alia told us.
"Cassie looked great in the brown lengha and the black uneven skirt; it was a subtle look with embellished fabric, so I used a lot of makeup, soft lips, deep, colored eyes with lots of black, brown and shimmers of gold. Get light pink lips, a natural tone and soft cheeks. Let the hair be free, fusion clothes are formal so you want the hair to be free, maybe a few curls, flirty kind of hair with a natural and soft look to the face. Keep the eyes bright and colored."
So there you have it! Now you can go out and get Cassie’s smoking hot fusion look from her "Equation" hook up with Desi designer Alia Khan. Have fun!
